NOVOKUZNETSK, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - Policemen in Russia’s west Siberian city of Novokuznetsk arrested a man, who took hostage a 16-year-old girl demanding a date with her older sister, the local Interior Ministry’s department said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the suspect intruded the house of the 16-year-old girl on early Saturday looking for her sister and when he did not find her he took out a weapon that resembled an assault rifle and mounted on an entrance door a device that looked like an explosive.
“The man demanded that the teenager call her sister or he would blow up the house,” the statement said.
Policemen managed to convince the suspect to surrender and arrested him. They confiscated from him an air gun and “a bundle of green wire that resembled a grenade,” the statement added.
Investigators opened a criminal case on charges of abducting a teenager and if the suspect is found guilty he faces up to five years in prison.
