VLADIVOSTOK, June 5 (RIA Novosti) – Customs officers in Russia’s Far East have seized 1.6 tons of bras and 2.4 tons of women’s handbags being illegally imported from China, regional customs officials said on Wednesday.
The undeclared items, discovered during a customs inspection by officers at the Ussuriysk checkpoint in Primorye Territory, are worth over 1.8 million rubles ($56,160), the Far East customs department said.
The Russian firm involved in the illegal trade faces a fine of up to double the value of the items seized, which will be confiscated by customs, the department said.
