DUBAI, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces welcomed Friday the US decision to provide military support to armed insurgents.
The US support should be “decisive in putting an end to violence and achieving a political settlement, responding to the aspirations of the Syrian people,” the Coalition said in a statement.
The US said Thursday it will provide military support to the Syrian rebels after it confirms the evidence Syrian government forces have used nerve gas against rebel groups.
"Following a deliberative review our intelligence community assesses that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin, on a small scale against the opposition multiple times in the last year," the White House said in a statement.
Syria’s Foreign Ministry Friday dismissed the White House's claim as being "full of lies" and "based on fabricated information", the SANA news agency reported.
The US’s decision "raises serious questions about the sincerity of its intentions to contribute to finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria at the time when it stokes violence and terrorism by arming the terrorist groups which are going on with their crimes against the Syrians backed by the US and its allies," the ministry said.
