LE BOURGET, June 17 (RIA Novosti) – Russian aircraft maker Sukhoi on Monday signed a deal to provide 20 Superjet airliners to leasing company Ilyushin Finance. At least 15 of the planes are to be leased to firms in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
According to the deal, signed at the Le Bourget air show in France, Sukhoi will provide the 15 basic-configuration, medium-haul Superjet 100s to Ilyushin, with deliveries beginning in 2015. Ilyushin plans for the remaining five planes to be Superjet 100-95 LRs, a modification with a longer haul.
The deal will be financed through a Russian government program to support high-tech exports.
The Superjet 100, capable of carrying up to 100 passengers for 4,500 kilometers, has been developed by Sukhoi in collaboration with U.S. and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.
