Body of Todashev, Shot During Questioning in US, Flown to Russia
The body of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot to death in Florida last month while being questioned about his ties to a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing, was flown to Moscow on Wednesday.
MOSCOW, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - The body of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot to death in Florida last month while being questioned about his ties to a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing, was flown to Moscow on Wednesday.
“We are already in Moscow,” said Todashev’s father Abdulbaki, who accompanied the coffin on a flight from the United States.
“Tomorrow I intend to take my son’s body to Grozny on a passenger plane,” he said, adding that he would press for a post-mortem examination in Russia.
Todashev, 27, was shot by an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Orlando on May 22 while being questioned about his links to Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Accounts from law enforcement officials published by US media in the immediate aftermath of the shooting were contradictory, with some saying Todashev was armed with a knife and others saying he attempted to grab an FBI agent’s gun.
