MOSCOW, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - A total of 147 flights have been disrupted and over 8,000 passengers left stranded in a Chinese airport due to tropical storm Bebinca that hit coastal regions in south China on Saturday, Chinese media reported.
As of Saturday evening, 110 flights were canceled and 37 delayed. Some 8,200 passengers were affected, the Xinhua news agency cited a spokesman for the Phoenix International Airport of Sanya, a city in the southern Hainan Province, as saying.
Bebinca, the year’s first tropical storm, made landfall in Qionghai City in Hainan on Saturday morning, the local meteorological department said, adding that it brought heavy rain to Hainan, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the South China Sea.
