A social drama by Turkish director and writer Erdem Tepegöz,“The Particle” (Zerre), won the best film prize at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival that closed in Russia's capital on Saturday.

MOSCOW, June 29 (RIA Novosti) – A social drama by Turkish director and writer Erdem Tepegöz,“The Particle” (Zerre), won the best film prize at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival that closed in Russia's capital on Saturday.

The best actress prize was awarded to Jale Arıkan from Turkey who starred as the leading character in "The Particle," Zeynep, a woman who struggles to make both ends meet living in a marginal district of Istanbul.

South Korean director Jung Young-heon won the best director award for his “Lebanon Emotion” (Le-ba-non Kam-jeong). The other highlights included Russian actor Alexei Shevchenkov who won the best actor prize for his role in “Judas," directed by Andrei Bogatyrev.

Polish director Pawel Lozinski received the best documentary award for his “Father and Son” picture featuring his father and prominent film-director Marcel Lozinski.

This year the festival’s jury was presided by prominent Iranian filmmaker and human rights activist Mohsen Makhmalbaf.

This year’s edition of Moscow’s annual most prestigious film festival opened with Marc Forster’s apocalyptic zombie thriller “World War Z,” presented by its leading star Brad Pitt.

The story of Russian mystic close to the family of Russia’s last tsar Nicholas II, “Rasputin,” with new Russian citizen and film star Gerard Depardieu as the title character was shown on the last day of the festival.
