MOSCOW, July 2 (RIA Novosti) – Residents of a town in Russia’s Perm Region were startled on Saturday when the entertainment chosen by city officials to mark local Day of Youth festivities turned out to be a group of male strippers.
From a stage set up in the park of the town of Chusovoi, Valentin Shadrin, deputy head of Perm’s Chusovoi district, told the crowd of several thousand that the show was dedicated to young people, Rossiya TV channel reported on Tuesday.
“You are our hope, our tower of strength, the future of our region!” he told them, before eight men took to the stage to dance and remove their clothes.
The strippers then proceeded to feed bananas to young female members of the audience, and invited others up on the stage to dance with them. The dancing was followed by “immodest games,” Rossiya reported.
While footage of the event shows young women and girls enthusiastically cheering on the strippers and joining them on stage, not everyone rated the officials’ choice of entertainment for the celebration of youth so highly. Outraged residents vented their indignation on social networking sites, calling the event “shameful” and “vulgar,” and expressing amazement that the organizers had seen fit to organize a strip show at an event where children of all ages were present.
Others were equally unhappy that no female strippers had been invited to take part in the festivities.
