WASHINGTON, July 3 (RIA Novosti) – The first American to be appointed principal dancer at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, will rejoin the company this summer, pbs.org reported.
David Hallberg, 31, who is also a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), finished the ABT’s spring season in New York City in June.
Born in South Dakota and raised in Arizona, Hallberg studied at the Paris Opera Ballet School and has been a guest artist with many companies including the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Kiev Ballet and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
Hallberg joined the Bolshoi in September 2011. "[Russians] have a very different style of dancing and that's part of the reason I wanted to go... to learn their style," PBS reported Hallberg as saying.
