MOSCOW, July 3 (RIA Novosti) – Russian military investigators have opened a criminal case against a serviceman and five other people accused of setting up and running a brothel in Kamchatka in Russia’s Far East, the Investigative Committee said on Wednesday.
According to the Investigative Committee’s main military investigation department, a local resident decided to set up a brothel in summer 2012 and involved the serviceman and his four other people in the business.
The suspects advertised in the local press for women to work in the brothel with ads reading: ‘A Real Chance to Earn Over 200,000 Rubles [$6,050] a Month! The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Escort Agency is Looking for Women Aged 18-30. Accommodation, High Salary and Security Guaranteed,” investigators say. These ads helped the suspects involve over 30 women in prostitution, investigators claim.
Investigators say they moved to arrest the man thought to be behind the scam after receiving a tip-off that he was going to go on the run.
A criminal case has been launched on several counts, including involvement in prostitution, which carries a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
