WASHINGTON, July 5 (RIA Novosti) – The roommate of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot to death in May by an FBI agent during questioning in Florida, has been granted permission to stay in the United States until the end of the month, The Boston Globe reported.
Tatiana Gruzdeva, described by the Globe as “a 19-year-old aspiring foreign language teacher and a Russian citizen” was arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa and had been instructed to leave the country by July 1 at the latest.
The removal office of ICE then granted her an extension until the end of July, without giving any explanation, although the immigration judge has ordered Gruzdeva to remain behind bars until she leaves, the Globe reported.
Todashev, a friend of slain Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot multiple times at an apartment complex in Orlando during an FBI interview May 22. The agent said Todashev, a professional mixed martial arts fighter, had attacked him.
