The Russian and Chinese navies carried out joint naval exercises on July 5-10 in the wake of US-Japanese war games held last month near San Diego, California.
The joint drills, dubbed the Naval Interaction 2013, took place in the Peter the Great Bay near the Russian port of Vladivostok.

China sent four guided-missile destroyers, two guided-missile frigates, a supply ship, three ship-borne helicopters and a special operations detachment to the drills. The Chinese task force was led by the deputy commander-in-chief of the Chinese navy, Vice Admiral Ding Yiping.
