KIEV, July 14 (RIA Novosti) – A man in northwestern Ukraine who cracked a raw egg on the shoulder of the Polish president faces up to three years in jail for hooliganism, police said Sunday.
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski was in the Ukrainian city of Lutsk on Sunday to pay his respects to tens of thousands of his countrymen who were killed in an ethnic-cleansing operation by Ukrainian nationalists during World War II.
The prankster, a 21-year-old resident of the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhe, some 900 kilometers (560 miles) southeast of Lutsk, was detained during the incident and tested for drugs. So far, he has not tested positive for alcohol consumption. His reason for the prank has not been disclosed.
In 1943, a senior commander in the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which was battling Nazi Germany primarily via guerilla tactics, ordered the killing of all men between the ages of 16 and 60 in Nazi-occupied Poland.
President Komorowski was in Ukraine to attend a mourning ceremony marking 70 years since the start of those killings.
