MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Finance Ministry to discuss repaying Russia’s Soviet-era debt of about $8 million to the Czech Republic, the Prime economic news agency reported Monday.
In a decree, posted on Russia’s official website of legal information, Medvedev tells the finance ministry “to hold negotiations with the Czech side, with the participation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Economic Development Ministry and [Vnesheconombank] the State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs.’”
The Russian Finance Ministry has already signed an agreement to settle Soviet-era debt of $1.7 billion to Slovakia and $288.8 billion to Serbia. It also plans to repay debts to Finland and Montenegro.
