July 19 (RIA Novosti) – US-based Georgian artist David Datuna will next week debut new work at an international contemporary and modern art fair in the exclusive New York resort of Southampton, the gallery that represents him said in a statement Friday.
The works Datuna will show at Art Southampton, which runs from July 25-29, “re-interpret traditional still life using the prismatic effects of cascading eyeglass lenses that are the distinctive element of the artist’s body of work,” the statement said.
Datuna, who was born in Georgia but now lives and works in New York, has had exhibits in Europe, Russia, China and the United States.
In September 2011 his portrait of Vladimir Putin, formed by small images of the Mona Lisa, sold to a Russian businessman for nearly $300,000.
