MOSCOW, July 20 (RIA Novosti) - At least three women were killed during Friday’s clashes between supporters and opponents of ousted president Mohamed Morsi in Egypt's Nile Delta city of Mansoura, the Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported on Saturday.
Witnesses told the website that live rounds and knives were used in the clashes. At least seven people were injured.
The Egyptian army deposed Morsi, who narrowly won the country’s first free presidential election last June with 51.7 percent of the vote, following mass nationwide protests against the rule of the Islamist president. His current whereabouts remain unknown, but he is rumored to be kept in an undisclosed military location.
Hundreds of thousands of Morsi supporters took to the streets across the country on Friday, calling for his reinstatement.
