PERM, July 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian investigators and experts will exhume and examine the body of a man, who died after allegedly being beaten by a doctor, a local investigative committee spokesman said on Monday.
Investigators launched a probe into the beating after the patient, who had just undergone cardiac surgery at a hospital in the city of Perm, died shortly after the incident. The investigation was initiated after a surveillance video dated February 21, apparently showing the doctor beating the patient, was uploaded on the video sharing website YouTube.
“Experts and investigators will possibly make an exhumation on Wednesday in Kirov, where the man was buried,” the spokesman said, adding the procedure was necessary to establish whether the doctor's actions were linked to the cause of death.
The YouTube video showed the doctor punching the patient in the head and then pounding on his chest, directly above his heart, while the patient was apparently strapped to his bed.
The doctor previously told Russian online tabloid Life News that the patient insulted him at the end of a 36-hour shift and he lost his temper.
