An armed conflict, which flared up between North Korea and South Korea on June 25, 1950, escalated into a war. On July 27, 1953, an armistice was signed between the DPRK, the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations Organization. In March 2013, the DPRK announced its decision to withdraw from the armistice agreement, citing US–South Korean war games.
