WASHINGTON, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – Acclaimed Russian film director Fyodor Bondarchuk has signed with US talent agency Resolution and the Beverley Hills-based management firm Magnolia Entertainment, the Hollywood Reporter said this week.
Bondarchuk is currently preparing the much hyped “Stalingrad,” the first ever non-American film shot in the IMAX format, for its scheduled October release in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Described by the Hollywood Reporter as “an epic love story set against the backdrop of the famous World War II battle,” “Stalingrad” will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International in the domestic market. An international release date has not been announced.
Bondarchuk directed “Company 9,” a drama set during the Soviet Afghan war that upon its release in 2005 broke domestic box office records by grossing $7.7 million in 5 days according to The Moscow News.
