MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - Seven people were killed and 15 more are missing in mudslides triggered by heavy rains in China’s northwest province of Gansu since the start of the week, Xinhua news agency reported.
The agency reported citing local authorities that three people were killed in a mudslide on Monday and three more in a separate mudslide on Thursday.
The city of Tianshui suffered most from the natural disaster, which forced the evacuation of some 30,000 people and inflicted economic losses of about 8.28 billion yuan ($1.34 billion).
In August of 2010, a severe mudslide in Gansu left over 1,150 people killed and almost 600 missing.
