MOSCOW, July 28 – Footage of Russian President Vladimir Putin catching a 21-kilogram (46-pound) fish during a trip to southern Siberia was not recorded several years ago, as bloggers had alleged, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Sunday.
Russian bloggers had previously said that the footage, released Friday, showed Putin wearing the same pants and watch that he wore during an outing in 2007.
“The clothing was new,” Peskov said in comments aired by Russian News Service radio. “The watch was actually the same as one that he had back then; he gave away the original and then bought exactly the same one.”
Furthermore, the size of the pike that Putin caught was not exaggerated, the spokesman added.
