MOSCOW, July 28 (RIA Novosti) – A group of four unidentified assailants robbed an Orthodox church in eastern Moscow early on Sunday, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.
The church has been identified as Church of St. Dmitry Solunsky located on Ibragimov Street.
The source said the robbers threatened a guard with a gun, tied him up, broke in the church building, and made off with unspecified loot, presumably jewelry.
The damages to the church are being assessed as part of the investigation, the official said.
A similar incident occurred ten days ago when a group of five criminals robbed the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in western Moscow, making off with jewelry donated to the church by worshipers.
