The Japanese ships are moored on the English Embankment near the Blagoveshchensky Bridge, where they will be accompanied for the duration of their visit by the Soobrazitelny corvette of Russia’s Baltic Fleet.
During the five-day unofficial visit, the Japanese sailors, who arrived in Petersburg at the invitation of the Russian Naval Command, will see the city's sights.
In addition, during the visit of the Japanese ships to St. Petersburg, Japanese and Russian sailors will play a friendly football match and, in keeping with tradition, visit each other’s wardrooms.
During the wardroom visits, Japanese sailors will learn about life and service in the Russian Fleet, while the Soobrazitelny's crewmen will be received at one of the Japanese destroyers.
St. Petersburg residents will have the opportunity to take an excursion around the Japanese ships on August 1 from 2 to 5 pm, according to the press service.
The Japanese ships will depart from St. Petersburg on August 4.
