WASHINGTON, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko, who won the gold medal at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in June, will perform at the Bear Valley Music Festival in California August 3, event organizers have announced.
Kholodenko was born in Ukraine in 1986, and by the age of 13 was already performing internationally, making appearances in the United States, China and Hungary according to his management’s website. He won the $50,000 Van Cliburn Competition in Dallas with warmly received performances of Sergei Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto and Mozart’s Concerto No. 21.
Since then Kholodenko has toured in Asia, Europe and the United States. At the Bear Valley Music Festival he will join the festival’s orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s Symphony #4 among other works. The performance will be held in the open air, in Bear Valley Village, a mountain resort in northern California.
