MOSCOW, August 1 (R-Sport) – Russian tennis player Dmitry Tursunov has withdrawn from next week's Canadian Open because of a hold-up in receiving his Canadian visa, the world No. 61 said Thursday.
The Rogers Cup is a $2.9 million hard-court tournament that is one of nine stops on the 2013 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 circuit.
"I haven't managed to get my Canadian visa in time, so I won't be playing the event in Montreal," Tursunov said on Twitter.
Tursunov, a former world No. 20, tweeted after beating fifth seed Gilles Simon in straight sets in the second round of the lower-level Washington Open.
The 30-year-old has had a mixed year, withdrawing from the French Open through injury before suffering a straight-sets defeat from German veteran Tommy Haas in the first round at Wimbledon.
His best result of the season so far is defeating top seed David Ferrer at the Barcelona Open in April.
