MOSCOW, August 1 (R-Sport) - Russian Premier League football side Terek Grozny are demanding Dynamo Moscow remove a video from the internet that pokes fun, albeit indirectly, at Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
The two-minute video posted on YouTube and advertising Sunday's match between the teams in the Russian capital features an elderly man asking whether he should scream "the referee is corrupt!" from the stands.
That alludes to a now-infamous game in the Chechen capital Grozny last season in which Kadyrov yelled the same phrase over the public address system when a Terek player was sent off, something not lost upon the club's president Magomed Daudov.
"We think extremely badly of this video, and of other videos made by Dynamo ahead of their home games," Daudov said in a website statement.
"We are talking about football, not boxing, when the opponents try to scare the life out of each other any way they can before a bout," Daudov added.
"No one should venture beyond the bounds of respect, ethics and morality."
He said that Dynamo had agreed to take the video down, but it was still visible as of Thursday morning.
Kadyrov, as Terek's honorary president and iron-fist ruler of the Chechen republic, is unaccustomed to public criticism in even the mildest of forms.
In April, Kadyrov, a martial arts and boxing expert, “invited” the Chechen Republic’s sports minister to join him in a session in the ring, after criticizing him on Twitter over the state of his ministry’s headquarters. He subsequently posted a picture of himself and the hapless minister on photo-sharing site Instaqram.
