MOSCOW, August 2 (R-Sport) – Russia coach Fabio Capello is reportedly warning Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev that he needs first-team football to be considered for the national team, even if it requires joining another club on loan.
After signing a four-year deal this summer to join Madrid’s first team from the reserves, 22-year-old Cheryshev was named in Russia's expanded squad for a World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland on August 14.
But Spanish daily As claims the Italian coach has told Cheryshev, who is behind Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao in the Madrid pecking order as manager Carlo Ancelotti tries to remodel him as a wingback, he will need to see him in action if he is to secure a place in the squad for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
The publication claimed no shortage of interest from other clubs in Cheryshev, who played all 90 minutes of Thursday's 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy in a preseason tournament in the United States.
The report said fellow Spanish side Malaga and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach are but two of the sides looking to take him on loan, although Cheryshev has his eyes on a move to the English Premier League.
Russia are in good shape to make Brazil, sitting second in qualifying Group F two points behind leaders Portugal but with two games in hand.
