The ranking of Russian cities with the worst air pollution in 2012 was compiled by RIA Novosti’s internal rating agency, RIA Rating, based on data from the State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Norilsk held its long-time place as the most polluted city in Russia, with the volume of pollutants emitted into the air about double those in Moscow, which came in second, overwhelmingly due to air pollution by automobiles.
