WASHINGTON, August 7 (RIA Novosti) - A Ukrainian artist who makes head-spinning “digital paintings” using the Microsoft Excel program will exhibit his work at a show opening in Miami this weekend, the Miami New Times website reported Wednesday.

Aleksiy Say uses Excel to create images that are on average 6.56 feet (2 meters) tall. From a distance the viewer might see a cityscape, fireworks, or an object such as a melting aspirin tablet. But on closer inspection, the image dissolves into “senseless bits of information” according to the Black Square Gallery website.

A graduate of Ukraine's National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Say told the Miami New Times he was inspired to create art with software used for “boring stuff” after a stint working at an advertising agency:

"At some point, I decided to take that office material (Excel spreadsheets, stock exchange reports) and make a new kind of art which can turn the corporate business world's tools into something philosophical and aesthetic but also understandable for 'corporate people' that they could relate to their experience," the artist told Miami New Times.

Say’s work is part of the "Matrix/Collective Memory" exhibit on display at Black Square Gallery, 2248 NW 1st Place, Miami, FL through September 8
