WASHINGTON, August 8 (RIA Novosti) – A trio of Ukraine’s best law students are shadowing lawyers and a judge in Miami County, Kansas as they seek to learn about the workings of the US judicial system, a local newspaper reported Thursday.
Olena Fedorchenko, Mariia Darmohrai and Siuzanna Mnatsakanian will spend three weeks in Kansas as part of a program sponsored by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the government of Ukraine, intended to help Ukrainians learn about western judicial systems, the Oswatomie Graphic said.
The report said 16 law schools in Ukraine take part in the program, which runs throughout the year, with selected participants spending three weeks shadowing a judge, a prosecutor and defense attorney, respectively, for one week each.
“We hope to compare both (legal systems) to find out what we can do to improve our system,” Fedorchenko told the Oswatomie Graphic.
