MOSCOW, August 9 (R-Sport) - Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis provided a big shock at the Canadian Open in Montreal, defeating Wimbledon winner Andy Murray in straight sets.

Losing 6-4, 6-3 to world No. 38 Gulbis in the third round ends Murray’s unbeaten run of 13 matches.

“I'm feeling better. I'm feeling fitter, faster, more confident with my strokes,” Gulbis was quoted as saying on the ATP website.

Gulbis will now play local hero Milos Raonic, who delighted the Canadian crowd with a 7-5, 6-4 defeat of Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro.

Another strong Canadian performance came courtesy of world No. 71 Vasek Pospisil, who reached the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(5) defeat of Tomas Berdych, the first top-ten ranked player he has beaten.

Pospisil next meets former world No. 3 Nikolai Davydenko, who downed fellow Russian Alex Bogomolov 6-4, 6-3.

Meanwhile world No. 1 Novak Djokovic struggled in the first set of his match with Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin but rallied to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and next faces seventh seed Richard Gasquet. Meanwhile, fourth seed Rafael Nadal saw off Wimbledon semifinalist Jerzy Janowicz 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4 and now plays Australia's Marinko Matosevic.

The Canadian Open, known as the Rogers Cup, is an ATP 1000 tournament played on hard courts with a $2.8 million prize fund.
