KIEV, August 9 (RIA Novosti) – American rock band Bloodhound Gang, whose bassist apparently urinated on a Ukrainian flag at a show in Kiev last month, should be permanently banned from entering Ukraine, the country’s prime minister said Friday.
The bassist, Jared Hasselhoff, also caused public outcry in Russia recently after being filmed cramming a Russian flag down his pants and literally wiping his butt with it at a show in Odessa on July 31. Video of both incidents was uploaded to YouTube.
“These people must be banned from entering Ukraine forever,” Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Twitter. He added that the country’s Culture Ministry should declare such incidents at public performances “inadmissible.”
Hasselhoff has already been banned from entering Ukraine for five years, the Ukrainian Security Service said earlier this week. Russia is also considering a five-year ban, a senior migration official said Friday.
“I know that this measure is being worked, and I believe that entry will be prohibited for them [the Bloodhound Gang musicians],” said Oleg Molodiyevsky, head of the Federal Migration Service’s Moscow branch. “No doubt it must be prohibited for disrespecting state symbols.”
