OMSK, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - Doctors discharged 13 out of 47 injured people, who were hospitalized after a passenger ship collided with a barge in Siberia on Saturday, local emergencies service said in a statement on Sunday.
The accident, which killed six people, occurred on the River Irtysh in the Omsk Region in southwestern Siberia just before 11 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday.
“Thirty four people, including seven children, remain hospitalized,” the statement said adding that 11 people were in serious condition.
Regional police earlier said the captain of the passenger ship, the Polesye-8, was detained and that alcohol was found in his blood. Russia’s Investigative Committee launched on Saturday a criminal investigation into the violation of safety rules.
