MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) – A light plane crashed in Russia's Siberian republic of Yakutia (Sakha) during a performance at a festival, killing a pilot and injuring two on the ground, local emergencies said on Sunday.
The Yak-52 plane crashed while performing a loop at the Bereg Radosti (Shore of Joy) song festival some 10 kilometers from the town of Tommot. Two spectators who attended the event were injured.
The light plane crashed into the Tommot River and plummeted into the river bank, where the festival was held, a spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry said. An investigation is ongoing.
More than 100 guests from Yakutia, the Amur Region and the Khabarovsk Territory gathered for the festival.
