MOSCOW, August 22 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian company is to build a $100 million helicopter airport in Moscow Region that will become the largest in Europe, a real estate company said Thursday.
The project to build a heliport in the Myakininskaya Isthmus, just 150 meters from the Moscow Outer Ring Road (MKAD), is being implemented by the NDV-Nedvizhimost company in conjunction with the Aerosoyuz helicopter company, NDV-Nedvizhimost'S CEO Alexander Khrustalev said.
A total of $50 million has already been invested in the project and another $50-60 million will be spent on buying helicopters and other equipment, he said, adding the project should be completed in two years.
The heliport will serve commercial flights and will include a helicopter base, a servicing center and a training facility.
The heliport will also provide an air ferry service to Sheremetyevo International Airport. That service will take five minutes and cost just 1,000-2,000 rubles ($30-60), he said.
Apart from the heliport, a four-star hotel and a hobby center will be built on a 3-hectare land plot, he added.
The project has a planned return on investment period of four to seven years, Aerosoyuz's president Alexander Klimchuk said.
