WASHINGTON, August 23 (RIA Novosti)- Colleagues of a Russian-American man indicted this month after allegedly assaulting aircrew and groping a female passenger on a Moscow-Miami flight have defended his character, saying he is a well-mannered “creampuff”, a local website has reported.
Pavel Nesvat, 36, who was indicted by a federal grand jury last week, is accused of running amok on the Transaero airlines flight in late July. He faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of interfering with a flight crew.
But Reynaldo Del Rio, who works with Nesvat at a car showroom in Hollywood, Florida, said the alleged behavior was out of character, telling Keysnet.com: “He’s a creampuff. He’s such a nice guy.”
“Paul is not a criminal,” Del Rio was quoted as saying.
Patrick Taylor, sales manager at the same car dealership, was quoted as describing Nesvat in a Facebook post as “a good friend and a family man.”
Nesvat, who holds both Russian and US citizenship, according to the article, had planned to bring his wife and two children from Russia to the United States, Del Rio told Keysnet.com Thursday.
Nesvat remains in federal custody on a $200,000 bond. He has not yet entered a plea, is lawyer told the website.
