MOSCOW, August 24 (RIA Novosti) – The average monthly salary of government employees in Russia during the first six months of 2013 rose by 19.9 percent year-on-year to 69,400 rubles ($2,100), the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
According to a Rosstat report published on Friday, a total of 38,600 officials worked for various government bodies as of June 2013.
Officials working in the presidential administration and the office of the government traditionally remain the highest paid government employees, earning on average 171,340 rubles ($5,186) and 167,382 rubles ($5,066), respectively.
The duo is followed by the Federal Agency for Supplies of Weaponry, Military, Special Equipment and Material Resources (Rosoboronpostavka) where employees earn an average of 97,000 rubles ($2,936) per month.
Among the federal ministries, the Emergency Situations Ministry has the highest salaries, with employees paid 92,840 rubles ($2,810) a month on average.
Employees at the upper house of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council, saw their average wages grow 19.9 percent this year to 87,430 rubles ($2,646), while their counterparts at the lower house, the State Duma, got a wage hike of 28 percent to 67,015 rubles ($2,028).
Overall, the figures shown in the Rosstat report indicate that the average salary of government officials remains about three times higher than Russia’s average salary, which stood at 27,153 rubles ($821) as of June 2013.
