MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - A Moscow driver was fined for parking violations record 300 times in six months, the Moskva 24 TV channel reported on Saturday citing deputy mayor Maxim Liksutov.
Liksutov said the driver gradually pays his bills. He did not disclose the driver’s name or place of work, saying only that he is “not a civil servant.”
Fines for improper parking in Moscow were increased from 100 rubles (about $3) to 2,500 rubles (almost $76) on July 1, 2012, so the driver is estimated to pay about 750,000 rubles ($22,700) in total.
The figure, however, is much less than the fine imposed on Jennifer Fitzgerald from Chicago, who accumulated 678 unpaid tickets, worth more than $106,000 in total, since 2009. A car registered on her name was abandoned in an airport parking lot, and remained there for two and a half years. Earlier this week, she settled with the city out of court for $4,500.
