NALCHIK, August 27 (RIA Novosti) - Bomb disposal experts defused an improvised explosive device found on a highway in Russia's North Caucasus Tuesday morning, a press officer for the local Interior Ministry said.
The roadside bomb, containing ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder and carrying an explosive capacity of six kilograms of TNT equivalent, was found on a federal highway transecting the Russian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria at around 10:30 a.m. Moscow time, the local Interior Ministry’s press officer said.
The bomb was found covered with insulating foam in a bucket, a local Interior Ministry official said earlier in the day.
The site was cordoned off and traffic was diverted while the bomb squad worked to make the device safe, the official said.
