WASHINGTON, August 27 (RIA Novosti) – Contemporary fashion and jewelry design from three Ukrainian designers will hit the catwalk in New York City next month during a show at the Ukrainian Museum in New York, according to the museum website.

Ukrainian fashion designers Oksana Karavanska and Katya Pshechenko, and Elena Vasilevsky, a Ukrainian-born, New York-based designer of fashion and jewelry, will display their “wearable art” at the “Fashion Ukrainian Style” runway show Sept. 29, according to the website.

The event will run in conjunction with “Out of Tradition: Contemporary Decorative and Applied Art,” an exhibit featuring work by 35 American, Canadian and Ukrainian contemporary artists of Ukrainian “background,” showcasing “works from the innovative realm of contemporary art and design that are rooted in the tradition and aesthetic of Ukrainian folk art.”

A silent auction of works donated by the designers in the exhibition will follow the catwalk show, according to the museum website.
