MOSCOW, August 28 (R-Sport) – Former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev will fight Serbia's Jovo Pudar in the undercard bout before the world heavyweight title showdown between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin next month, BoxingScene.com reported Wednesday.
Chagaev will battle Pudar for the WBA Intercontinental and Pan Asian Boxing Association titles in Moscow on October 5.
In 2007, Chagaev claimed the WBA heavyweight belt from 7-foot Russian Nikolai Valuev, but surrendered the crown back to the so-called "Beast from the East" two years later after abandoning a defense due to health problems.
The 34-year-old Uzbek holds a 31-2-1. His two losses came against Klitschko in June, 2009, and Povetkin in August, 2011.
Pudar has won 30 fights, 17 of them by knockout, while losing three.
The bouts will take place at the 14,000-seat Olympiisky Sports Complex in Moscow, where Povetkin will try to take Klitschko's WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight titles.
