MOSCOW, August 28 (R-Sport) - Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova overcame a rocky first set against Ashleigh Barty to beat the Australian and advance to the third round at the US Open on Wednesday.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked 33 in the world, won 6-4, 6-0 in 61 minutes at Flushing Meadows, converting 95 percent of her first serve points and hitting four of five break points.
She has a tough matchup in the third round against Polish world No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska, who beat Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor 6-0, 7-5 on Wednesday.
Pavlyuchenkova's best finish at the US Open came in 2011 when she reached the quarterfinals. She and Radwanska are 1-1 lifetime but haven't faced each other since Indian Wells in 2009.
