MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) – Police killed an aggressive bear after it had mauled two villagers to death in East Siberia, a local police spokesman said Sunday.
The incident occurred late on Saturday after a woman called police to say she had found a body of a man in a forest in the village of Ladanovka, to the west of Krasnoyarsk.
“Two police officers arrived at the scene. They found a bear that was burying a man. The animal was shot to death,” the spokesman said. A body of another villager was discovered shortly after some 100 meters from the scene, he added.
In another bear attack on Saturday, an old woman was killed in the village of Chuguyevka in the Primorye Territory, Russia's Far East. Police are on hunt for the bear that attacked the woman.
Last Sunday, police in Nakhodka, in the Primorye Territory, killed a bear that was threatening locals. The animal roaming through the city was spotted by the residents who said it “posed danger to people.”
