ARKHANGELSK, September 10 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian policeman who went goose hunting in northern Russia and accidentally killed a Federal Security Service (FSB) officer was sentenced to a year of community service, the Investigative Committee said Tuesday.
On May 1, the policeman fired at low-flying geese close to a shelter that his hunting companion, 27, an officer of the FSB Border Guard Service for the Arkhangelsk Region, was at the time.
The FSB officer walked out of the shelter just when the shot was fired and was fatally wounded in the head, the committee said in a statement.
The policeman was found guilty of negligent homicide and sentenced to a year of community service with a six-month probation period.
The Investigative Committee did not say when the sentence was handed down.
