MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti) − US Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday that that the deal he reached with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Syria's chemical weapons was capable of removing all its arsenal, media reports said.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the framework accord reached with Russia in Geneva on Saturday, Kerry said it "has the full ability ... to strip all of the chemical weapons from Syria," Reuters reported.
Kerry also said Sunday that “the threat of force is real' if it does not carry out an internationally brokered agreement to hand over its chemical weapons,” according to the Associated Press.
The landmark US-Russia deal is expected to see all chemical weapons in war-torn Syria brought under international control and destroyed by mid-2014.
