BEIJING, September 20 (RIA Novosti) – Hong Kong authorities arrested a Russian woman who tried to open a plane emergency exit in mid-air Thursday, the Russian Consulate General said.
The woman, who arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday on a Cathay Pacific flight from Moscow, was detained shortly after her plane landed safely at a local airport.
A Consulate General employee told RIA Novosti that she was to appear in court on the same day on charges of violating flight safety rules.
“Most likely, a fine will be imposed on her,” he said.
He did not elaborate on possible reasons behind the woman’s bizarre behavior, but said this was not the first time a Russian had been arrested in Hong Kong for similar violations.
