MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Icelandic counterpart Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson on the sidelines of an international Arctic forum, a Russian presidential aide has reported.

The forum, entitled Arctic: The Territory of Dialogue, is organized by the Russian Geographical Society and is to be held on September 24-25 in Salekhard, west Siberia.

Putin and Grímsson will “discuss urgent issues of Russian-Icelandic cooperation, first and foremost, in the trade and economic sphere, as well as the two countries’ approaches toward the development of interaction in the Arctic region,” Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov told journalists.

Grímsson visited Russia in 2010 and 2011.

Last year, bilateral trade between Russia and Iceland totaled $211.9 million. The geothermal power industry is one of the two countries’ promising cooperation fields.
