MOSCOW, October 5 (R-Sport) – European 5,000 meter champion Olga Golovkina has been banned for two years over doping charges, the All-Russian Athletics Federation said.
The 26-year-old was suspended for failing a drug test taken during an out-of-competition period on July 16.
The athlete’s blood sample contained the anabolic steroid dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, the federation said late Friday.
Golovkina’s ban will expire on August 1, 2015, meaning she will not be able to defend her title won in Helsinki last year.
She also participated in the London Olympics, where she finished ninth and won silver at the University Games in Kazan in July.
According to the federation, Golovkina is the 32nd Russian track and field athlete to be suspended for doping violations since January 1.
