WASHINGTON, October 8 (RIA Novosti) – A YouTube prank to promote a new Hollywood movie appeared to terrify patrons at a New York City cafe after a woman seemingly uses her mind to throw a man against a wall, move tables and cause books to fall from shelves (watch the video, below).
The video, posted Monday, shows customers recoiling in horror as the woman appears to use telekinesis to lift a man onto a wall and propel him in the air after a staged argument over spilled coffee.
As the woman’s rage builds, the pranksters make it look as if she can push tables away and cause books and pictures to fly from the walls and shelves using nothing but her mind and voice.
Hidden camera footage from the scene shows onlookers shrieking and hustling away from the action along with extras that were in on the prank.
In reality, the man was lifted off the ground by a hidden pulley, while the tables were moved by remote control. The books and pictures had been spring-loaded to fly from their spots.
As of Tuesday, the video had been viewed more than 4 million times on YouTube. The conclusion of the video links the prank to the upcoming remake of the 1976 film “Carrie,” based on the 1974 horror novel by Stephen King about a girl whose powers of telekinesis produce grisly results.
