WASHINGTON, October 9 (RIA Novosti) – Renowned Russian husband-and-wife art duo Ilya and Emilia Kabakov will be profiled in a new documentary that will make its US premiere in New York next month, according to Pace Gallery.

The documentary, “Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: Enter Here”, traces the Kabakovs’ story from their birth in the Soviet Union through their artistic acclaim and eventual exile in the United States.

The couple’s artwork will also be featured in a new exhibit at Pace Gallery that will open shortly before the film’s debut. According to the gallery, the show will feature eight paintings from a recent series, as well as the Kabakovs’ 2003 installation “I Catch the Little White Man.”

The art exhibit runs from November 2 through December 21, while the film premieres at New York’s Film Forum on November 13.

The Kabakovs have had a busy fall season in New York. Last month, Ilya Kabakov turned 80, while the duo’s installation “The Ship of Tolerance”—an artistic vessel decorated with children’s paintings—debuted in Brooklyn in September.

The Kabakovs are among the best-known artists to have emerged from the former Soviet Union, having exhibited their conceptual works internationally since starting their collaboration in 1988.

Although both artists were born in eastern Ukraine, they identify themselves as Russian on their website. They live and work in New York.
